Piedmont is a city primarily in Canadian County, Oklahoma, though a small part of it is in Kingfisher County. It is a part of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Area with a total population of 5,720. In 1950, this marvelous city of Piedmont became an increasingly popular bedroom community for those working in nearby Oklahoma City.
Piedmont school system has always been known for its level of excellence in education and its commitment to success. List of the most reputable public schools here at Piedmont are: Piedmont Primary, Northwood Elementary, Stoneridge Elementary, Piedmont Intermediate, Middle School of Piedmont and Piedmont Highschool who won the Class C girls basketball State Championship in 1967.
Public library was also established here in Piedmont for everyone to use. There is more than 16,000 collections of books available to check out from popular fiction, non-fiction, children’s books, adult and juvenile books on audio CDs to a small reference collection, including a current World Book Encyclopedia that will surely keep you occupied the whole day. They offer free use of computer or you can bring your own WiFi enabled devices and make use of the library’s hi-speed wireless internet access. Quite reading room is also available on a first come, first served basis where you get to enjoy your favorite book while sitting on an overstuffed sofa in a comfortable and cozy reading room.
Piedmont also excels in so many things and received quite a few achievements that they’re proud to call their own. In 2006, the Pride of Piedmont Winter Guard won a MAPAA State Championship during the 2006 season with their show "Scattered". In 2009, they won the WGPO State Championship, performing a program entitled "Time After Time." In 2010, the Pride of Piedmont Middle School Winter Guard won the state championship in their class, performing a show entitled "99 Red Balloons". In 2012, the Piedmont Varsity Winterguard won second in State Competition with their show entitled "Bollywood".
In two consecutive years, the Piedmont Girls' Track Team brought the most coveted award when they won the Class 4A State Championship in 2009 and 2010.
Odyssey of the Mind has also brought many Regional and State Championships for the town. Several notable teams ranging from Elementary to High School level have advanced as far as world tournament.
The 2007 PHS Varsity Cheer team won Academic State Champion and was state runner-up in the co-ed division of class A.
PHS Softball has been District Champions from 2002–2007, Regional Champions from 2004–2007, State quarter finalist in 2004, State semi-finalist in 2006 and 2012, and in 2004 were Top X Conference Champions.
Another achievement for this amazing city is when they became the 1st community in Oklahoma to be designated by the National Wildlife Federation as a Community Wildlife Habitat on October 2, 2013. It is a place where residents make it a priority to provide habitats for wildlife by providing the four basic elements that all wildlife need: food, water, cover and places to raise young.
There’s a great deal of things to do here in Piedmont Oklahoma. Sometimes these events, attractions and restaurants are well known, while other times it takes a well-trained eye or local guide to introduce you to them. They have art galleries, famous restaurants that serves scrumptious and moth watering cuisines.
